Rice Husk

Rice Husk (or Rice Hull) is the protective outer layer of the rice grain, a fibrous agricultural byproduct of the milling process and a valuable source for rice husk biomass and related rice husk products. At GH2 Industries, the husks are not wasted; they are primarily utilized as rice husk fuel, a renewable and carbon neutral energy source in our on site cogeneration plant to power the entire manufacturing facility. The resulting ash, including processed rice husk ash and fine rice husk powder, is then converted into high value circular materials.

  • Renewable Fuel Source: High calorific value for energy generation.

  • Sustainable Biomass: A fully renewable, net-negative carbon emission fuel source.

  • High Silica Content: The ash co-product contains high levels of amorphous silica.

  • High Insulation Value: Low thermal conductivity useful for insulation purposes.

  • Biomass Fuel: Used in GH2’s own cogeneration plant and supplied to industrial boilers.

  • Circular Materials: Converted into Rice Husk Ash, then into high-purity industrial silica and Sodium Silicate.

  • Insulation & Filler: Used as a lightweight filler in building materials and as a soil conditioner.

  • Animal Bedding: Used as bedding material due to its absorbent and non-toxic properties.

  • Density: Low bulk density.

  • Moisture: Typically <15%.

  • Ash Content: High (post-combustion).
